The Kitchen Sink

Hello! Today I wanted to share my favorite part of our house - the kitchen sink. The massive window above the farmhouse sink actually makes doing dishes more bearable. On days when the air is crisp and cool we will open up the two side windows and let the breeze flow through the house - one of the upsides to having a shotgun style home. This doesn't happen very often in the South, but I sure am ready whenever the slightest hint of a cold front comes through!

Weirdly enough, I was not one of those people that wanted a farmhouse sink - as popular as they are. But after living with it for a few months I must say - I love it! It's much easier to clean large pots, pans and cutting boards without the 1/2 sink divider and I've found that we are more inclined to put dishes away instead of leaving them in the "drying" section of the sink. Grey rag rugs in front of the sink and the side door are from Crate and Barrel.

The planters are also a Crate and Barrel find. So far the herbs are loving their place next to the light filled window.

The idea to hang up my cutting boards actually came from a pinterest post that I saw awhile ago. I think it makes so much sense to have extra cutting boards at the ready instead of falling over in the cabinets. An sturdy iron hook from Anthropologie finishes off the look and pulls the green out of the adjacent "artwork".

As always, thanks for reading!
