Garden Themed Nursery
I can't believe it's taking me this long to post pictures of Audrey's nursery. So going back, as soon as we found out we were pregnant in October 2018, I started looking at nursery themes, ideas, anything. I could not wait to decorate the front room for our future little. At the time, I didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl, but I came across a painting of a hare by Catherine Rayner and I just fell in love. Totally obsessed. Basically, it didn't matter if we had a boy or a girl - Bernard (the hare) was going to be a centerpiece in the nursery.
When we found out we were having a girl (yay!), I went right to work picking out colors. I was really set on having a pink paint color on her walls, but I also wanted a color that would grow with our daughter. I chose a very pale petal pink by Benjamin Moore. It's really a sweet color and it light enough that it is actually pretty neutral.
So because Catherine Rayner illustrates children's books, there was really no hope of me finding an original or a print on the scale that I wanted for her room (believe me, I actually looked). I ended up recreating it on watercolor paper using watered-down acrylics to get some depth of color. Mine ended up being more umber-looking than hers, but I like the way it turned out. I also painted a flower wreath for Audrey in a similar style. I've done several of these floral wreaths now for friends and friends of friends, but typically those are on a much smaller scale and the flowers have been more opaque and not as realistic looking. Usually when I'm painting for my own home, I'm not as worried about it turning out, but since these were such high profile pieces in Audrey's room, I was really stressed that I wasn't going to get them right. I'm hoping that these pieces will grow with Audrey and grace her room for awhile.
Blanket was a gift from a very dear friend, bedding from Crate & Barrel Kids.
Ended up repainting an old bookcase that I grew up with - Benjamin Moore Cucumber Green. The paintings are of my parent's cat "Missy" and I framed them in white Ikea frames. "A" shelf letter from Crate & Barrel Kids.
Ikea Hemnes dresser painted in Benjamin Moore "Cucumber Green". I picked up 3 mirrors at Hobby Lobby. Note: the lowest one was promptly kicked off the wall and broken, we did not replace it and it still looks pretty good. Audrey, like most babies, is a little narcissist and is all about her reflection in the mirror.
Anyway, that's the nursery. We've been spending a lot of time in there with her these last 10 months and it's been pretty wonderful.
